                     A unique exhibition of ancient Greek art of the 5th and 6th centuries B.C. from the

            Louvre Museum  opened to the Japanese public this June.

                     Masterpieces of classical Greek art were exhibited from June 17th, 2006 until August 20th , 2006

            at the University Art Museum in Tokyo  and from September 5th, 2006 through November 5th, 2006

            the exhibition continues at the  premises of  Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art.

                     The Japanese people and the international community in Japan have the privilege to admire 134

            invaluable pieces of extraordinary beauty, 123 of which have never before left the Louvre Museum.

                     The exhibition was under the auspices of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japanese

            Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Embassies of France and Greece in Japan and was jointly organized

             by the Tokyo National Museum of Art, the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, the Louvre Museum, NTV,

            the Nippon Television Network Corporation and the Yumiuri Shimbun Newspaper.    (more...)
