Mr. Igaya of Japan and Mr. Nikolaou of Greece elected as Vice-Presidents of IOC

IOC member Mr. Chiharu Igaya was elected to the Vice-President at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) general meeting on the 9th.  The term of office is four years. He will be the second Japanese Vice-President after Shoji Kiyokawa (deceased) who became Vice-President in ‘79. Mr. Igaya is the first Japanese medallist of Olympic Winter Games who won the silver medal of Alpine skiing slalom in 1956 Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympic Winter Games.

Two Vice-Presidents, Mr. Igaya and Executive Board member Mr. Nikolaou (Greece), were elected from four nominees.

 Mr. Igaya was defeated in 1992 and 2000.
