Greek Prime Minister K. Karamanlis on visit to Tokyo (10-13 November, 2005). Highest level meetings and talks

 

 Prime Minister of Greece Mr. Konstantinos Karamanlis will pay on official visit to Japan as from the 10th to the 13th of November, 2005. The Greek Premier will be accompanied by the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of international economic affairs Mr. Evr. Stylianidis and a number of high ranking officials from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic Ministries and organizations, as well as Heads of the largest Greek business Associations and respective Chambers of Commerce.

 The Greek Prime Minister and Mrs. Karamanlis will be accorded an audience by His Majesty the Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on Friday, November 11 and will hold talks with Prime Minister Koizumi on the same day. Mr. Koizumi will host a dinner in honour of the Greek Prime Minister and Mrs. Karamanlis at the Prime Minister's Residence.

 Mr. Karamanlis will pay as well a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Lower House H.E. Mr. Yohei Kono, who is also President of the Japan - Greece Parliamentarian League of Friendship.

 The Board of KEIDANREN is going to offer on the other hand a luncheon in honour of the Greek Prime Minister and accompanying Greek businessmen.

 The visit is reflecting the excellent level of the intensive multifaceted relations between the two countries over the last years. The presence of the Greek Prime Minister in Japan could be also taken as a follow-up to a series of exchanges, visits and events in the aftermath of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and 2005 EXPO in Aichi (Visit of Their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Hitachi to Athens on the occasion of the Olympic Games, visit of a number of economic Ministers under the Greek Minister of Economy Mr. G. Alogoskoufis to Tokyo and Aichi, as well as the President of the Greek Parliament Prof. Anna Psarouda - Benaki in May and June 2005 respectively on the occasion of the EXPO).

 The abovementioned Prime Minister's high-level meetings and talks are expected to reconfirm and further strengthen the common values and principles animating Greece and Japan.

 An ever growing also  bilateral economic and business interaction between the two countries in various fields (trade, tourism, investment, shipping, transport etc) are definitely  going to be further promoted and intensified as a result of the Greek Prime Minister's visit to Tokyo.
