SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION OF GREECE IN THE FOODEX JAPAN  2006

 

      

 Greece participated in FOODEX JAPAN 2006 with 9 companies in a 138 sq.m Pavilion.

The exhibits of the Greek Pavilion were : wine, olive-oil, olives, canned peaches, fruit cocktails, dried fruits and nuts, dried figs, antipasti, salad dressings, ready meals, delicatessen, roasted peppers.

       It should be noted that in the International Food Hall of FOODEX 2006 a Seminar on the Greek Olive oil was organized on March 15, 2006 under the title   “Extra virgin Olive-oil : Green Gold, gifted by the Greek Nature". The main speaker Mrs. Filio Mirtsidou, food journalist, specializing in Olive –oil, presented the Greek product , followed by olive-oil tasting and a very interesting and stimulating Q & A Session.

       The Ambassador of Greece, Mr. Kyriakos Rodoussakis, in the conclusions of the Seminar referred to the potential that the Greek quality agricultural products present for the Japanese market. He mentioned in particular the Olive –oil, which has always been part of the Greek culture and cuisine.

        Mr. Franco Oliva, Director of The International Olive –oil Council, spoke very highly of the quality of the Greek Olive-oil. He answered also questions about production methods and marketing of the Olive-oil in Greece and worldwide.

         Following the Seminar, all of the 70 participants, mainly from food importing companies, Super Market chains, journalists etc, were invited to visit the Greek Pavilion.
