On the occasion of the annual Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry mission to Tokyo (26/11 – 1/12/2005) a reception was given at the Greek Ambassador’s Residence on the 29th of November. All the members of the Greek exporting companies participating in the mission along with their Japanese counterparts attended the reception. The Greek Ambassador Mr. K. Rodoussakis welcoming the members of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry wished well to this year’s Greek exporters’ business contacts in Japan. These annual Greek – Japanese business meetings have already contributed a great deal to the ever growing bilateral commercial relations, the Greek Ambassador said. All the more that this year’s mission takes place immediately after the recent successful visit of the Greek Prime Minister Mr. K. Karamanlis to Japan. A new impetus in the existing dynamic trend of the Japanese – Greek economic relations was given following Mr. Karamanlis’ visit to Tokyo, the Greek Ambassador concluded.

On behalf of the visitors, Mr. I. Papageorgakis, in charge of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry Japanese section, heading this year’s mission, thanked the Greek Embassy and especially the Commercial Office of the Embassy for all the arrangements and organizational efforts for fruitful and productive contacts between the members of the Greek mission and their Japanese counterparts. Mr. S. Saito on his side, Executive Vice President of JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), also welcomed the members of the Greek mission. The Chief of the Greek Coastal Guard Admiral Th. Gklezakos, on a visit to Tokyo, addressed on the other hand the participants in the reception, emphasizing on this occasion the longstanding strong maritime ties between Japan and Greece.

It should be noted that, apart from the private meetings between the Greek members of the mission and their Japanese counterparts, a meeting was also held with the JETRO Board and Executive Vice President Mr. S. Saito. .
